2011 Brass Band Summer School in full flow...
During the last three days the sound of music has been ringing out over the grounds of Framlingham College as Richard Evans directs the most prestigious brass band summer school in the world.

With the help of a talented tutorial staff, including former Black Dyke percussion star Lee Skipsy and Brighouse & Rastrick's principal cornetist Stuart Lingard, the BBSS delegates have been getting to grips with a selection of varied repertoire.

It hasn't all been hard work though. Earlier today delegates let their hair down for the' BBSS Brass in Concert'. With an emphasis on 'entertainment' and 'fun' three bands gave superb shows which found favour with our unique adjudicating duo! Best programme, best band, best soloist, and most beautiful band were just some of the gongs handed out!

Adjudicators Stuart Lingard & Lee Skipsy enter into the spirit of things!

Later in the day we were all treated to a fantastic 'student' concert before receiving an informal lecture and demonstration by one of the world's great authorities on all things brass - Giles Witham.

Giles looks on as a delegate tries out his 8000 silver trumpet!

Euphonium Tutor David Childs gives the 'flugaphone' a go!

Olivier from Belgium tries out the snake-bone!

Wednesday and Thursday will see various BBSS bands put the finishing touches to their programmes before Friday night's Gala concert. If you're in the area come along - it should be fun!
